The first Cornish Rex appeared in 1950 in a farm in Cornwall (England). This kitten was called Kallibunker. He gave to all Cornish Rex cats his curly coat as soft as silk. The other cats entered in the foundation of the breed were mostly Siamese and Orientals (for genetic diversity and long type).

The Cornish Rex cats are very lively, athletic and acrobatic. They easily accept to live with conspecifics or dogs. Like the Siamese, they have a strong voice.

Cornish Rex cat must be considered as an indoor cat because she is chilly. Her coat is very short and  does not protect from cold. She loves to rest under the duvets and blankets.

Taking care of the Cornish Rex is easy because rubbing by hand is enough to remove the loose hair.  There is virtually no mounting and therefore no hair around the house.
